Six Flags Filing for chaper 11?

Dan Snyder's Six Flags Inc. will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange on April 20th after failing to meet the NYSE's quantitative listing criteria. (The stock, SIX, has been under $1.00 per share since September).

In 1999, the shares traded as high as $41.62, but the stock has been in a downward spiral ever since. The company's debt has mounted over its' large efforts to expand globally and build new rides.

Filing for Chapter 11 is an option for bankruptcy protection, though Six Flags legal advisors are still trying to work out a restructure plan of their debt.

I really don't know how they are losing money! I just spent a damn good amount there, and so do millions of others. For instance.....

Not just the food that is bringing the cash, but the other shops and vendors around there. Then you have the almighty "Flash Pass" that is bringing in BOO KOO amounts. I got that pass today that gave "3" people the ability to cut in line. "150 BUCKS." Yea, but that was for the GOLD edition. There is a regular edition that is like 30 or 40 bucks cheaper, but still. You want a vitamin water out of the vending machine?? 4 bucks. You know its bad when the vending machines have debit card readers on them.

so how much is this flash pass u speak of?? 150 just for one?? and it allows 2 others with reg tickets, to cut inline with the flash pass holder???

The flash pass is an excellent device on getting to ride those rollarcoasters faster. Upon purchase you have a few options, you can either go "REGULAR" or "GOLD" edition.

Regular - You will be waiting a while for your ride like the rest BUT you don't actually have to wait "IN THE LINE".

Gold - Your wait time is reduced by 75%.

How many people you want to include on the device changes the price of course. One device can hold up to 6 people.

When you have your device its basically got all the main rides listed in it. You scroll down and select which ride you want to reserve yourself in. The device will let you know at what time you will be able to ride. You may only reserve ONE ride at a time though. You don't have to show up at the EXACT time it says either. As long as it is past the reserved time your good to go.

I got the flash pass GOLD edition w/3 people and it costed 146 bucks. When reserving my ride, i swear the wait time was no more than 4 to 6 minutes. When i walked up to the flash pass entrance they would scan the device to make sure that i was reserved for it, then it would give me the ability to reserve another ride. So basically right after they would scan it, i would reserve another ride. I would be ready to ride before even getting off the current ride that im at. It was well worth it.

Six Flags Inc., one of the largest regional amusement-park companies, filed for bankruptcy protection Saturday.

The theme-park company, shouldering more than $2 billion in debt, had been negotiating with lenders, selling parks and laying off staff in a race to restructure outside of bankruptcy court. But it couldn’t outrun the deteriorating economy and a looming $288 million payment due preferred shareholders this August, along with $31 million in unpaid dividends.
