10 man hosted by yours truly!

Well guys, last night i was in charge of my first 10 man. I even had our vent full for the raid. Took us 3 hours or so, but we finally got Onyxia down. It was gonna be our last attempt, and it went smooth. I have upped our vent to 15 players because it may happen again sometime and i don't want to push you guys off for room for WoW players.

3 hours? What was your group like? Have you even did ony before her "overhaul?"

Yea, i have done ony plenty. I had to do a lot of teaching, i was considerably pissed, trust me.

what I meant was, have you ever did vanilla ony, to which i just remember no you didn't. 40 man ony was fun times.

when "new and improved" ony was patched in, i took a group of guildies (ex guildies now, well, the only ones who didn't hate me) and got all three achivements, (keep in mind, we all did her in vanilla when it was 40 man)

setup
1 tank - me -blood dk tank (was the guild mt and dk class leader along with priest class leader)
1 healer - pally healer (this guy was and is 1 of 2 people I would roll with if I ever played wow again, a fucking hoss he is.)
8 ranged dps - I think it was 4 mages, 1 warlock, 1 shadowpriest, 1 ele shammy, and 1 hunter.
keep in mind were all geared in 10/25 toc.

basically i tanked her on that back wall as always with the ranged at max range towards the farthest wwhelp cave, when she was at about 80% i ran into the whelp cave (cooldown, but dk cooldowns are still short cd and full of awesome) spawned all the whelps, ranged just aoe'd the fuck out of them, (mages living bombed ony/flame strike, warlock plants teh seeds, shadowpriest mindsear = best aoe ever, and hunter did his thing) so then she flew into the air, ele shammy popped hero, she was down right as soon as the first elite add spawned, so I was tanking allt he whelps, ony, and her elite, (why i brought the pally healer = P) 20 seconds after that, free loots.

it was pretty awesome, I always do stupid shit when I tank because it makes it funner, it's still not as epic as jeff (gen.millz) evasion tanking ony when his guilds tank went down at the last 10% (10% back in the day took like 5 minutes) but it was still one fraps worthy, if only i had it.

If you need any boss strats feel free to hit me up cary, I don't mind helping out. If I ever decide to play WoW again (maybe, just maybe for IC) I might transfer over to your server and show you homos how really people play. but I remember every fight up until hardmode anub in toc, just drop me a line and I'll help a brother out.

The ONLY thing that seems to stump us is the 25 ToC "Faction Champs". We have our guild and a sister guild going in there. The 10 man we beat easily and are working on our hard mode 10 man, but with the fact that this fight is not like any other fight in WoW (to my knowledge) i think a lot of people don't know how to fight it well. Not to mention there really is no "certain way" to do it. My job is to CC the warrior or any other melee class that the leader tells me to. Which i do quite well, but while im doing that they are trying to kill the tree and keep the other healers stunned. A couple of minutes later, the tree is still at 100%. Very aggravating.

hell i could tell you this one it is a bitch but its actually easier with the tree out there
do what your doing and keep the heavy hitters cc'd
kill that tree your going to want a priest either mass dispelling or a shamy purging it a lot
and its best to keep a rouge or a good interupter on each caster and have two or three just keep up the int.'s
and everyone else just hammer away at one target
then after the trees down you pick your next healer hopefuly there's a healing priest cause they'll go down faster, if not then go for the shamy, then when their down to 1 healer left for them pick out the higher hitting dps like a warlock then warrior dk rouge
whichever is the biggest pain in the ass take out the pets, and then the last healer
then you done in about 8-10 min's tops
